Michelle Fortin is the Executive Director of Watari of the Downtown Eastside (DTES) in Vancouver. She describes, with great enthusiasm, the programs offered by Watari. In this insightful and compassionate interview you will hear about how the agency has developed programs with great skill and understanding of the challenging to serve client groups that it serves in this area. Therapytalks is very pleased to be donating 5% of the income from all interviews on the site to Watari. While Watari is publicly funded, the money that it receives from Therapytalks will go to presently non-funded services like child care for those attending counselling, bus fare for those attending counselling, in addition to things like food vouchers, soaps, toothpaste, laundry detergent, etc. for clients served.
